The Devil is in the Details

Found this animation by Mate Dobray. I love how the pen stays in place, but the drawing spreads…

The song, The Devil is in the Details, is by Boards of Canada. Would really love to use it in a short film I’m mulling over – it’s kindof perfect.

I love his use of sound as I’ve been thinking a lot about mismatching what a viewer sees and hears in film. In this video, the sounds amplify the sense of movement and strange atmosphere. I had a teaching assistant in art school, Iris Charabi-Berggren, who did something similar, but used actual recordings of human arthritic joints as she projected 3 videos of wrists rotating, heads turning, etc. You can see that piece, Insight, on her website: http://iriscb.com/projects_2006-2007/09.html
